Summary

Georgie is back and hanging the stockings with care when a murder interrupts her Christmas cheer in this all-new installment in the New York Times bestselling Royal Spyness series from Rhys Bowen。

Georgie is excited for her first Christmas as a married woman in her lovely new home。 She suggests to her dashing husband, Darcy, that they have a little house party, but when Darcy receives a letter from his aunt Ermintrude, there is an abrupt change in plans。 She has moved to a house on the edge of the Sandringham estate, near the royal family, and wants to invite Darcy and his new bride for Christmas。 Aunt Ermintrude hints that the queen would like Georgie nearby。 Georgie had not known that Aunt Ermintrude was a former lady-in-waiting and close confidante of her royal highness。 The letter is therefore almost a royal request, so Georgie, Darcy, and their Christmas guests: Mummy, Grandad, Fig, and Binky all head to Sandringham。

Georgie soon learns that the notorious Mrs。 Simpson, mistress to the Prince of Wales, will also be in attendance。 It is now crystal clear to Georgie that the Queen expects her to do a bit of spying。 There is tension in the air from the get-go, and when Georgie pays a visit to the queen, she learns that there is more to her request than just some simple eavesdropping。 There have been a couple of strange accidents at the estate recently。 Two gentlemen of the royal household have died in mysterious circumstances and another has been shot by mistake during a hunt。 Georgie begins to suspect that a member of the royal family is the real target but her investigation will put her new husband and love of her life, Darcy, in the crosshairs of a killer。

I started this a little late one night and read eight or nine chapters before I had to go to bed。 There were some very funny moments (laugh out loud) in those chapters。 Georgiana is now married to former playboy Darcy。 Georgie realizes she should ddo something about Christmas。 She decides to have a house party with her nearest and dearest including her Granddad, mother and friend Zou-Zou。 She of course askes her brother Binky and her sister-in-law Fig with their children。 Monkeywrench after monk I started this a little late one night and read eight or nine chapters before I had to go to bed。 There were some very funny moments (laugh out loud) in those chapters。 Georgiana is now married to former playboy Darcy。 Georgie realizes she should ddo something about Christmas。 She decides to have a house party with her nearest and dearest including her Granddad, mother and friend Zou-Zou。 She of course askes her brother Binky and her sister-in-law Fig with their children。 Monkeywrench after monkey wrench is thrown into the plans。 Then Darcy's aunt Emintrude asks them to a house party near Sandringham and adds the Queen would like to see Georgie, it is equal to a royal command。 So the group goes with Mummy, Binky, Fig and Queenie (the willing but clumsy now cook)。 Who shows up the Prince of Wales along with Wallis Simpson。 God Rest Ye, Royal Gentlemen comes to life as dead bodies turn up and the newly weds try to solve the mystery。 Rhys Bowen is giving us # 15 in the series of Her Royal Spyness。 It can be read as a stand alone, It was so entertaining, loved the solution and the end。 What's next for the couple? 。。。more

mystery, humourGeorgie thinks about hosting her first Christmas, but they are invited to an aunt's of Darcy's, near Sandringham。 The Queen asks Georgie to keep an eye out, as there seems to be a Christmas curse, and a murder does happen。 Eccentric relatives。 mystery, humourGeorgie thinks about hosting her first Christmas, but they are invited to an aunt's of Darcy's, near Sandringham。 The Queen asks Georgie to keep an eye out, as there seems to be a Christmas curse, and a murder does happen。 Eccentric relatives。 。。。more

Oh Golly (as Georgie would say) I'm sad to come to the end of this series。 No, Wait! Another book comes out this year!! YAY!!!I truly adore this series。 It is a wonderful escape from real life。 Georgie is a wonderful character, someone you would want to know in real life。 Darcy is a wonderful leading man, and Binky and Fig are a hoot as always。 Although it is strange to read of Elizabeth as a young girl, and then have her pass away this past week at age 96。 RIP, Your Majesty。 Oh Golly (as Georgie would say) I'm sad to come to the end of this series。 No, Wait! After her marriage to Darcy, their first Christmas together promises to be a quiet affair at the home of Darcy's aunt on the grounds of Sandringham, home of the king and queen。 Of course, murder is sure to follow Georgiana。 A fun read。 Just what I needed! Georgiana and Darcy want to spend Christmas at their home as a newlywed。 Then they get an invitation to his aunt's home near the King and Queen of England。 They are off with her brother and his family and her mom。 At the home their are other guests。 Then certain men seem to die some under certain circumstances。 The twist and turns as to might be the murderer is surprising。 The writing is very good。 Enjoyed the book。 Georgiana and Darcy want to spend Christmas at their home as a newlywed。 Then they get an invitation to his aunt's home near the King and Queen of England。 They are off with her brother and his family and her mom。 At the home their are other guests。 Then certain men seem to die some under certain circumstances。 The twist and turns as to might be the murderer is surprising。 The writing is very good。 Enjoyed the book。 。。。more

This was a good book, but the comments regarding Wallis Simpson was rather in bad taste and unnecessary。 It could be regarded as Defamation of character。

Juliet

Jolly good read, as Georgie would say。 I especially liked the way Rhys Bowen tied in the real historical events of the date of this book。

This is the best book yet in the series。 The murderer is actually someone you have some empathy for。 I’m glad Ms Bowen stopped doing all the backtracking and recapping of the characters in the beginning of the books - it felt kind like reading Nancy Drew。 Either people are reading the series or not but she doesn’t need to keep cutting and pasting in so much of the background from previous books。 Her readers are more sophisticated then that。

I had difficulty getting into this one, it was my first audio in the series and the narrator doesn’t sound like I thought Georgianna would。 Once it got going though I really enjoyed it, it’s very light as always and I was completely fooled… I really didn’t think Georgianna was right, the person I thought it was doesn’t even feature in the solution! It was fun to have everyone around for the Holidays。

I always enjoy the Royal Spyness Mysteries。 I like the spunkiness of Georgie and her Cook Queenie。 A fun read with a glimpse of the Royals。

Again Rhys Bowen did not disappoint。 Looking forward to her next Royal Spyness and Molly Murphy

So glad this series is back on track。 This was a fun read。 Looking forward to the next installment。

Another wonderful story with Georgie and Darcy。 Love this series

Golly!I always enjoy Georgie。 But it seems over time that many of her rough edges have worn away。 Her clumsiness, both physical and social, is only mentioned in passing, which is sad。 Georgie made me think of a Lucille Ball character?…I used to laugh out loud at Georgie’s naïveté, faux pas’, and outlandish escapes。 All I found this time were some smiles。 Bring back the original Georgie。

Murder didn't take a backseat at Georgie's honeymoon, so there's no way it would stop for a mere holiday! Georgie and Darcy are off to Darcy's aunt's home, which is located near where the royal family will be in residence for the holidays。 The stakes get higher and higher, especially with the possibility that the killer may be inside the royal residence or in the home with Georgie and Darcy。 Despite the bodies dropping, Christmas cheer still abounds, with amazing sounding course after course at Murder didn't take a backseat at Georgie's honeymoon, so there's no way it would stop for a mere holiday! I think this is my favorite of the series so far。 It is Christmas and they are spending it with Darcy's eccentric aunt who is friends with the Queen。 I love how the series follows (loosely) the timeline of history and the monarchy。 Can't wait to read the next one。 I think this is my favorite of the series so far。 It is Christmas and they are spending it with Darcy's eccentric aunt who is friends with the Queen。 I love how the series follows (loosely) the timeline of history and the monarchy。 Can't wait to read the next one。 。。。more

Who doesn't enjoy another Lady Georgie book? Georgie is looking forward to her first Christmas as a married lady hosting a house party at her estate。 However things do not go as planned。 Most of the people she invited already made other plans and then to top it off she and Darcy get invited to one of Darcy's aunts for the holidays with hints that the Queen would look forward to seeing Georgie (35th removed from the crown)。 So off they go toting Queenie, Fig, Binky, their kids, and Georgie's moth Who doesn't enjoy another Lady Georgie book? This Mystery is the most recent of Ms。 Bowen's "Royal Spyness Mysteries。" Lady Georgiana Rannoch and her husband Darcy O'Mara have been invited to spend Christmas near the royal estate at Sandringham。 Georgiana is a cousin to the Royal Family。 The present monarch is King George V。 The year is 1936, and the King is in declining health。 Meanwhile the Prince of Wales is having an affair with the American divorcee Wallis Simpson。 While there, murders occur。 This is a "who done it" style mystery。 The This Mystery is the most recent of Ms。 Bowen's "Royal Spyness Mysteries。" Lady Georgiana Rannoch and her husband Darcy O'Mara have been invited to spend Christmas near the royal estate at Sandringham。 Georgiana is a cousin to the Royal Family。 The present monarch is King George V。 The year is 1936, and the King is in declining health。 Meanwhile the Prince of Wales is having an affair with the American divorcee Wallis Simpson。 While there, murders occur。 This is a "who done it" style mystery。 The plot, I found, was not plausible。 Lady Georgiana is an amateur sleuth who just happens to expose the murderer and the reasons。 Scotland Yard is seldom mentioned here。 Why? It was the most disappointing book I've read to date on this Mystery Series。 。。。more

Georgie and Darcy are married--ready to celebrate Christmas at Darcy's family home in Ireland。 However, the queen has summoned them to come to Sandridge and be available to celebrate with the Royal Family。 It is 1935 and Wallis Simpson is hoping to snare Prince David (heir to the throne) into marrying her (although twice divorced)。 There are several tragic death of those closely aligned to the Royals。 I hope Bowen will continue to come up with more stories for this series。 Georgie and Darcy are married--ready to celebrate Christmas at Darcy's family home in Ireland。 However, the queen has summoned them to come to Sandridge and be available to celebrate with the Royal Family。 It is 1935 and Wallis Simpson is hoping to snare Prince David (heir to the throne) into marrying her (although twice divorced)。 There are several tragic death of those closely aligned to the Royals。 I hope Bowen will continue to come up with more stories for this series。 。。。more
